T Litter:  CAZ AND DANI

Whelped June 6, 2005.  3 males; 2 females; all puppies black & red.

The T's are quite the characters, and excellent all-around working dogs.  Dani's owner, Mary Schurr, in Seattle, and I cooperated on this litter.  The pups were raised in Seattle.  Suzan and I went to Seattle to do the Temperament Test and brought three back here to Wyoming.  I originally kept the purple female, whom I named "Celhaus TNT", "Dyna" for short, but her prelimary hip x-rays showed they weren't good enough for breeding, so I spayed her and placed her as a pet.  She is now known as "Wilma".

Caz is producing very nicely.  Caz is a beautiful, medium sized male with gorgeous dark black and red pigment.  His temperament is outstanding--he is confident and relaxed in all situations and his tail wags constantly as he enjoys whatever is going on.  People fall, in love with him wherever he goes.  He is quite social, thoroughly enjoying people of all ages, especially children.  He has done well on visits to the nursing homes and is now a registered Therapy Dog.  He is willing and eager to please, a happy dog who loves to play and to retrieve.  His temperament is superb--confident, serene, not needing to push or prove anything.  He gets along well with other animals although we continue to work with leaving my cat alone.  He just insists that Toby should run so he can chase him, and "pushes" him mentally and physically trying to make him "play".  Toby is not too pleased with the situation and alternatively totally ignores him or gets mad and chases him out the doggie door and holds him there.  Caz, on the deck, responds by wagging his tail madly and periodically sticking his nose through the doggie door, only to be swatted by a claw.  He could play that game for hours and is always disappointed when Toby gets bored and goes to a impenetrable place for a nap.

Caz comes from excellent Dutch & Belgian working lines.  His mother line (Tiekerhook) is a female line noted for working all day long, having great drive and sound health and hips. Carmen (Caz's grandmother) is one of the best producing Tiekerhook females of all times.  His sire was a noted working dog, from respected working lines, and was known for producing excellent working dogs.

Caz has bonded nicely with me and is showing a serene, affectionate nature and a super fun personality.  Now that he's truly wanting to please me because he loves me, I have begun seriously training him and am showing him for agility titles.  Caz is also thoroughly enjoying agility training and soars happily over the jumps with verve and enthusiasm--so much so that he often knocks bars, so we're not qualifying too often yet but that will come.  Since he already has his international working titles (IPO3), he's had a lot of training, but some of it needed to be refined and perfected for showing in AKC.  He's getting lots of experience around large numbers of dogs of all sizes as at first he would get so busy gawking at everything he "forgot" what he was doing.  Such a silly boy!  Yet he does have a serious side.  He's not very good at the vet and has gone into "You won't do that to me!" mode several times.  I have no doubt he will protect himself, and me, if needed.

Caz has very nice working drives and loves to retrieve.  He showed stress in tracking, probably from being force-trained to track in Europe, but responded amazingly quickly to some remedial work and is now tracking beautifully.  He got to go to a Search & Rescue tracking seminar in April, 2003, and the SAR people loved his drives and personality.  They said he would be great at SAR work.  They also raved about his gorgeous pigment, nice size and sound, balanced structure.  Three of the "L" litter, one of the "O" Litter and one from the "P" litter went for SAR, and several more people are interested in obtaining one of his pups for SAR.

Caz was imported by a woman in Missouri in July 2002 and came to me in late December 2002.  He had one very nice litter in Missouri:  3 went for Search & Rescue, 3 for police work, one as a service dog for a handicapped person and one was kept by the breeder for Schutzhund competition and breeding.  I'm excited about what he should produce for me.  He is an eager and intense stud dog and his litters (Litters L & R with Zinna, Litter N with Jubilee & Litters O, P & S with Ashi) look very nice so far.  He is also proving to be an excellent father.  He is very gentle and patient with his pups and absolutely fascinated by them.  I am amazed, because he usually is a hell-bent-for-leather, go-through-rather-than-around kind of guy and I expected him to be to rough or bouncy around small pups.  He, however, moves very slowly and carefully around them and obviously knows instinctively that they need to be treated carefully.

Dani got her American CD and CDX titles in the span of 3 months, taking only 3 shows for each title (you have to qualify 3 times to obtain a title) with multiple placements, including a High in Trial in Open competition!)   She also passed her Herding Instinct test with flying colors, is on an obedience drill team which does frequent demonstrations and a flyball team which does performances at halftimes during major sporting events, and will soon be setting the world on fire in agility competition.
