W Litter:  MEM'RY AND JOYFUL

whelped April 21, 2006: five black & tan males & one black & tan female

pedigree

Sire:  Remember vom Jagerstadt CGC

OFA good hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Thyroid, OFA Cardiac, CERF, von Willebrand's & hemophilia free

This will be Mem'ry's second litter.  He sired the V Litter, from Jubilee, Joyful's aunt, which was whelped February 6th.

Mem'ry is a large male with gorgeous dark black and tan pigment and what is called an extended saddle--black covers much more of his body than most black & tans.  His temperament is outstanding--he is confident and relaxed in all situations.  People fall in love with him wherever he goes.  He is quite social, thoroughly enjoying people of all ages, especially children.  We call him "The Nanny" because he rushes to comfort any living thing, two or four legged, if it's distressed or hurting, a quality which I feel is a direct result of his breeding.  His grandsire, Degen, was a famous producer of guide dogs and service dogs.  Two guide dog schools have his semen frozen to use for years to come, since he was such a good producer.  Degen also produced incredibly healthy and physically sound dogs.  Those are the reasons I waited a year and a half to finally get a pup from his lines.  Mem'ry's mother, Sable, is an accomplished herding dog whose natural instinct of what to do in any herding situation is amazing.

Mem'ry also is very eager to please me and to try to anticipate what he can do for me.  He loves to learn and trains easily.  Mem'ry loves agility and clears the jumps by a foot. He nearly jumps over the A-Frame, he takes such a huge flying leap at it.  He will do anything for a treat. I probably will begin showing him this summer.  He is also going to be a good obedience competition dog, whenever I get around to training him.  He's deceptive when tracking, acting very easy-going about following the scent, but he's always right on the track.  People fall in love with him when they meet him because he is highly social, very loving, and bursting with personality.

Dam:  Joyful

whelped 11/13/03

OFA good hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Thyroid, OFA Cardiac, CERF, von Willebrand's & hemophilia free

Joyful is an Ashi and Caz daughter, and a Glory granddaughter.  She is much like her mother and grandmother:  high drive, fanatic retriever, super nose, athletic and balanced, and mentally intense. She is like both parents in that she is very focused and intelligent.  She doesn't show much of Glory's teasing nature, but rather is serious like both parents.  She's very easy to train.  She has super high nose drive; in fact, she is fascinating to watch at our daily play sessions:  she races after the ball, but on the way back she has to "track" every where it rolled and every thing, no matter what height, it touched.  She's also crazy about the big hard Indestructible ball and speedily searches for and finds it when our retrieve session finishes each morning.  She's the only dog I've ever seen who figured out how to put a canine tooth into the small plastic hole; she rolls the bal until she can find the plastic, inserts a tooth, and caries that huge thing all over the place.  I can't get it away from her to throw it.

One of the main reasons I bought Caz was because his pedigree should click with Ashi daughters, and it did.  That combo produced some superb search & rescue, tracking and  obedience dogs.  Joyful is small and compact like her sire, a nice black & red like him.  She's training nicely in agility.  I started her tracking as a pup but discontinued since we've suffered from a terrible drought the last few years.  We're finally getting some moisture so I hope to be busy tracking both her parents, and Mem'ry, this summer.

I'm expecting very richly pigmented, outgoing, confident, high retrieve drive and athletic pups from this combination.  They will all be rich black & tans or more probably black and reds, probably with extended black like their father.  These pups should be able to do anything a person asked--very versatile, very biddable, easy to train and of course fun to live with.  We'll have done the V Litter's temperament test (Mem'ry x Jubilee, who is a 3/4 sister to Joyful's mother) before this Litter is born, so we'll have a good idea what to expect from the W's.
