X Litter (whelped 1/29/07)
2 sable males, 1 black & tan male; 2 sable females, 1 black & tan female
I kept Miss Purple, who is now Celhaus X Marks the Spot (call name "Treasure") and Mr. Rainbow, who is now Celhaus Xtra! Xtra! (call name "Xtra!"). Pink went to a pet home, Blue went to a family whose son does 4H obedience, Yellow went to a family who want to do Search & Rescue. Green went for Search & Rescue. Pink, Blue & Yellow went to California; Green went to Utah.
These pups turned out, on the whole, to be super nice working dogs, high-drive, intense, of superb temperament and sound nerves, and highly social. Quinta is a full younger sister of Celhaus Mischievous Rogue. Both were bred to Caz. Rogue's litter was whelped September 28th. See them. The M & Q Litters (see photos) produced dogs that are doing exceptionally in Search & Rescue and other work. This is Caz's last litter. Like many European imports, in his later years he has developed prostate problems. He's been on medication as we waited for Quinta to turn two and obtain all her health certifications. Caz is now retired, neutered to eliminate the prostate problems, and will enjoy retirement. We will try to do some tracking and get that title, plus we may try for obedience & rally titles.

Caz is producing very nicely. Caz is a beautiful, medium sized male with gorgeous dark black and red pigment. His temperament is outstanding--he is confident and relaxed in all situations and his tail wags constantly as he enjoys whatever is going on. People fall, in love with him wherever he goes. He is quite social, thoroughly enjoying people of all ages, especially children. He has done well on visits to the nursing homes and is a registered Therapy Dog. He is willing and eager to please, a happy dog who loves to play and to retrieve. His temperament is superb--confident, serene, not needing to push or prove anything. He gets along well with other animals, though he's not good with cats.
Caz comes from excellent Dutch & Belgian working lines. His mother line (Tiekerhook) is a female line noted for being very worthy, working all day long, having great drive and sound health and hips. Carmen (Caz's grandmother) is one of the best producing Tiekerhook females of all times. His sire was a noted working dog, from respected working lines, and was known for producing excellent working dogs.
Caz has very nice working drives and loves to retrieve. He showed stress in tracking, probably from being force-trained to track in Europe, but responded amazingly quickly to some remedial work and is now tracking beautifully. He got to go to a Search & Rescue tracking seminar in April, 2003, and the SAR people loved his drives and personality. They said he would be great at SAR work. They also raved about his gorgeous pigment, nice size and sound, balanced structure. Several of his pups are doing well in SAR, two are excellent in Schutzhund and another is wowing everyone in tracking.
Caz thoroughly enjoyed agility training and soared happily over the jumps with verve and enthusiasm. He began slowing down last spring so I have retired him.
Caz was imported by a woman in Missouri in July 2002 and came to me in late December 2002. He had one very nice litter in Missouri: 3 went for Search & Rescue, 3 for police work, one as a service dog for a handicapped person and one was kept by the breeder for Schutzhund competition and breeding. I'm excited about what he should produce for me. He is an eager and intense stud dog and his litters (Litter L & R with Zinna, Litter N with Jubilee, Litters O, P, & T with Ashi and T Litter with Ashi's daughter, Dani) look very nice so far. He is also proving to be an excellent father. He is very gentle and patient with his pups and absolutely fascinated by them. I am amazed, because he usually is a hell-bent-for-leather, go-through-rather-than-around kind of guy and I expected him to be to rough or bouncy around small pups. He, however, moves very slowly and carefully around them and obviously knows instinctively that they need to be treated carefully.

Quinta, commonly known as "Wild Thing", is the character of the family. She loves to work, begs to train, and gets into all kinds of trouble when we're not. She is crazy about agility and already has two NADAC titles with legs in a couple of other classes. Her biggest problem is remembering to listen to me and go the direction I indicate, rather than attack every obstacle in sight. When she does remember, she is extremely intense and concentrated, a joy to work. She is definitely one that I'll take on to advanced competition. She has also done extremely well in obedience classes and eventually we'll probably try for some titles there--once she's matured and is less bouncy. We'll also resume tracking, at which she was quite good in her puppy introduction. Quinta is very much like her mother, Jubilee, and grandmother, Glory. She is quite dramatic, very fast and athletic, loves to tease, and has trouble being a "good" girl.

Therapy Dog
She has her Companion Dog title and her AKC Novice Agility titles and only needs one more qualifying score to finish her Novice Jumpers title, but she has developed spurs on her back (from being such an athletic, body-slamming, hard-playing dog all her life), so her jumping days are over. I hope to get her back into tracking (if our terrible drought ever ends) so she can get her tracking title. She has a fantastic nose. We may do some Rally, too, now that she has to retire from agility.
Jubilee is the most athletic GSD I've ever known--unless it's her daughter, Quinta. When she was just a pup she would jump into the back of a 3/4 ton pickup from which I was shoveling wood shavings, trudge to the top of the shavings pile, and get on top of the cab. She will climb, jump, drill through incredible obstacles to retrieve her toys (the favorite of which is the Frisbee). She loves obedience, tracking and agility. Her tracking is very intense and only needs proofing to be ready to try for her Tracking Dog title. The last five summers have been miserably hot and dry, and I haven't done much training, otherwise she'd have titles by now. Once she's done with this litter we'll get back to training and try for some titles next year.
